Mr. Meyer has over forty-five years of domestic and international entrepreneurial leadership experience developing, owning, and operating businesses across multiple sectors, including multi-unit consumer, franchising, finance, commercial real estate, and ranching.
Since 1978, Mr. Meyer has been investing or developing luxury residential real estate properties across Texas, including the Plaza at Turtle Creek in Dallas, TX. During this time, Mr. Meyer also founded JLM Financial Investments, an asset-based investment platform founded in 1992 with a focus on acquisitions of secured loans and fee simple real estate. JLM was very active in this space in the downturns in 1992-94 and 2008-2011.
Mr. Meyer is the Co-Founder and Chairman of JLM Financial Partners, a private investment firm based in Austin, Texas, with investments spanning across the U.S. and Asia in growth-oriented brands focused on health, wellness, entertainment, and recreation. He is and has been involved in all the aspects of JLM’s investment strategy, investment oversight, decisions, and investor relations since the company’s inception in 2015. Meyer currently either serves as Chairman or Board Member for numerous portfolio companies:
- JLM Development Company, a real estate development entity
- JLM ExoGrade, LLC, a biotech start-up firm focusing on innovations in the field of stem cells
- JLM Living, LLC, a build-for-rent single-family development company
- JLM Luxury, LLC, a luxury single-family development company
- Hospitality Asset Funding Group, owner and operator of hospitality assets in Texas and also provides capital solutions for hotel owners and lenders.
- United PF Partners (Mexico), Planet Fitness franchisee operating in Mexico
- The Recreational Group, a sports flooring enterprise – Exited Q4 2021
- United PF Partners, largest Planet Fitness franchisee – Exited Q4 2019
Mr. Meyer has held numerous other management and leadership positions, including being a franchisee of Leadership Management International, owner of T-Shirts Plus (a national franchisor of retail stores), and most recently, as co-founder and Chairman of United PF Partners (the largest Planet Fitness franchisee) until JLM Financial Partners exit of this portfolio company with 168 units in 2019, which was the largest franchisee transaction in US history. He has also held numerous roles in civic and community organizations, including 25 years on the Board of the Boy’s & Girls Club, which he currently serves on the Foundation Board.
Mr. Meyer has been married for forty years to his wife, Lynn. They have three children and four grandchildren.
