Tara Barnes serves as Chief Financial Officer of JLM Financial Investments, bringing more than 30 years of experience in financial management, accounting, investment management, operations, and executive leadership across family offices, investment firms, real estate, hospitality, and operating businesses. Throughout her career, she has provided financial and operational leadership to complex organizations, combining disciplined financial management with a practical, hands-on approach to business operations and long-term stewardship.
Tara joined JLM Financial Investments in 2020 as Chief Financial Officer, where she oversees all accounting and finance functions for the family office. Her responsibilities include financial reporting and analysis, accounting, budgeting and forecasting, cash management, tax and audit coordination, financial controls, and financial planning. She manages the firm’s banking relationships and insurance programs and provides financial oversight across its investment and operating activities. In addition, Tara oversees payroll and human resources, giving her a broad role in the day-to-day financial and administrative management of the organization.
A Certified Public Accountant and graduate of The University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business, Tara was also a member of the Texas Longhorns cheerleading squad while attending the university. Her combination of financial expertise, operational experience, and executive leadership provides JLM Financial with disciplined financial oversight and a practical perspective on risk management, organizational operations, and the long-term stewardship of the firm’s assets and businesses.
Tara lives in Austin, Texas, where she stays busy raising her daughter and enjoys an active family life outside of her professional responsibilities.
